A couple of snippets of information from The Guardian yesterday, 31 July:

  • An interview with the new Science Minister,  Ian Pearson; one quote seems to sum up much of what he wants to bring to the job: "There are a lot of people who talk about science. But I don’t get the impression that the average person on the street really understands the importance of science to our economic future and to our wellbeing. There is more we can do to communicate that."
  • The Guardian has launched a service for researchers, to enable them to develop their awareness of research opportunities; essentially, it’s a grant-finding tool, with a news feed incorporated.
