This toolkit is a practical model to help set up collaborative collection management (CCM) amongst UK research libraries.

The toolkit is based on experience gained by the RLUK-Collaboration for Research (CoFoR) team in creating the ground-breaking ten year agreement between the UK’s major Russian, East European and Slavonic Studies libraries and contains many model documents which can be used by other projects and adapted to local and subject specific needs.

The CoFoR project explored the feasibility of a national, coordinated approach to collection development and management. It grew out of the Research Support Libraries Programme’s successful COCOREES (Collaborative Collection Management Russian and East European Studies) project that had worked closely with both the research community and those research libraries with significant Russian and East European Studies holdings.

CoFoR established a 10-year voluntary partnership agreement relating to the acquisition, retention and transfer of stock in Russian, East European Studies, and the toolkit comes out of this work.

The toolkit is available to download below.

Please note: before initiating a collaborative collection management scheme, it would be useful to read Part 1 (Guide to Collaborative Management) and Part 2 (Details of the Partnership Agreement achieved by the CoFoR Team).
