Jorum identifies itself as a service for the UK Further and Higher Education to collect and share learning and teaching materials, allowing their reuse and repurposing.

It is free online repository service and is intended to become part of the wider landscape of repositories beyond the institutional, local, regional or subject-based. These policies inform the current landscape on access and preservation in the scholarly, learning resources environment. JorumUK is currently available to UK FE and HE institutions, and is based on an institutionally registered User and Depositor licensing model. JorumOpen is free to access from any worldwide source - only depositors are required to sign up.
