The National Archives is the UK government’s official archive, giving detailed guidance to government departments and the public sector on information management and advising others about the care of historical archives as a centre of expertise in creating, managing and preserving official information.

They work with 250 government and public sector bodies, helping them to manage and use information more effectively. As the government’s national archive for England, Wales and the United Kingdom, they hold over 1,000 years of the nation’s records. These pages contain information for a range of stakeholders, including owners and custodians of records, archivists, special collection librarians, records managers and conservators. Here they offer guidance and standards for information management professionals, organised by keyword. Policymakers may find it useful to consider the keyword ‘digital’ as there are several valuable documents there for consideration.
