Policies on publishing research papers to deliver best value for the HEI

This JISC Briefing Paper has been written by two convinced advocates of the Open Access approach, both of whom bring long-established experience in the field of scholarly communications.

This paper proposes that universities may get much better value for money and higher impact for their research, by choosing an Open Access business model rather than being limited to publication in journals that use a subscription business model. The paper may well be useful in informing any consideration of policy changes that an institution may make as to the dissemination of its research.
